Failure of the Msunduzi Billing System!

Since 2020, Msunduzi residents have had to deal with ongoing problems with their municipal account. These include estimations for longer than three months, disconnection, and reconnection fees despite paying on time, interest on amounts in dispute, incorrect billing/reading, residents not receiving accounts despite requesting them, queries/disputes not resolved to date, disconnections despite existing disputes, disconnections without prior notice, issues experienced regarding the multiple billing cycle. This includes residents been forced into arrears through the multiple billing cycle. MARRC conducted a case study on the billing problems and prepared a report that identified the key problems and provided solutions. Read it here

Join the fight to fund our legal campaign!

Residents have been battling endlessly with the municipality with the billing accounts problems since 2020 with no solutions in site. MARRC has engaged with the Msunduzi municipality since 2020 and submitted a case study on the billing problems in order to address the multiple billing problems. This included providing solutions but to no avail! The municipality has imposed a multiple billing cycle without due process and consultation with affected residents. The process is illegal and irregular. We have now embarked on a fundraising campaign to fund a class action lawsuit against the municipality on all billing problems as the municipality is unwilling to sort out the problems. The court action is to force the municipality to develop an intervention program to address the billing crisis once and for all. The Msunduzi municipality is too busy sponsoring entertainment and sports activities like R27million to Royal AM Football Club, R3m New Years bash and R300,000 to entertainment companies for a rugby fan park at the cost-of-service delivery. We would like to appeal to all residents of Msunduzi who want to see justice to support our fundraising campaign. PETITION – CONCERNED MSUNDUZI RESIDENTS – SAVE OUR CITY!
