OBJECTION TO PROPOSED TARIFF INCREASES FOR THE 2025/2026 FINANCIAL YEAR

We, the residents and ratepayers of Msunduzi Municipality, who are also “paying customers” funding the city’s operations, hereby object in the strongest terms to the proposed tariff increases for the 2025/2026 financial year.

OUR DEMANDS FOR THE 2025/2026 FINANCIAL YEAR ARE:

  1. Zero tariff increases across all municipal services, including rates, electricity, water, sewerage, refuse, and any other charges.
  2. Immediate disconnection of all illegal electricity and water connections within 90 days.
  3. Elimination of fruitless, wasteful and unauthorized expenditure, with personal accountability and prosecution for any officials or politicians authorizing such expenses.
  4. Improved efficiency in municipal operations, ensuring optimal use of resources (staff, equipment, and infrastructure) to ensure improved service delivery and “better value for our money” across all suburbs.
  5. Significant enhancement in customer care services at 333 Church Street and the Msunduzi Call Centre, in line with “Batho Pele principles”.
  6. Public Participation that Msunduzi Municipality adopts Asset Based Community Development (ABCD) as the official public participation policy.

This objection is submitted as a single formal objection, regardless of whether it is sent via a broadcast email platform. Kindly acknowledge receipt and respond within seven days.

REMEMBER: We are the paying consumers of Msunduzi and have “locus standi” with a direct interest in this matter.

Yours faithfully,
